Chess960 SP649

Chess960 SP649

The game below was played in a team match called chess960 open challenge. It is played between Team Japan and Battle For Victory on 17 boards. I am playing on board 4 for Battle For Victory. This game was also important because it decided the match. Because I lost this game, our team also suffered a loss. I would have needed to win both of my games in order for our team to draw this match. I was unable to do so this time because my opponent played better chess960 than I was capable of. The current score in the match is 18 - 15 in favor of Team Japan. Only time will tell whether or not I can even the score a bit in my other game against Shinjin16792.

Monday I will get back to chess games again but for now, have a good weekend everybody! I have added three mate in ones, one mate in two and one mate in four puzzle today. I have also added two analysed chess960 games and they can be found in these two posts: Chess960 SP33 and Chess960 SP301.

Game number two. This is my second game against Shinjin16792 from the same team match as the first game in this post. With this win I tied the score with my opponent and made the final score a little bit nicer for our team, the final score being 18 - 16 in favor of Team Japan. This match started on March 31st 2015 and finished on August 29th 2015.

D53 Queen's Gambit Declined: 4.Bg5 Be7: Early deviations (1.d4 d5 2.c4 e6 3.Nc3 Nf6 4.Bg5 Be7 5.e3 Ne4)

In order to be consistent in naming my posts, I renamed this post to D53 Queen's Gambit Declined: 4.Bg5 Be7: Early deviations (1.d4 d5 2.c4 e6 3.Nc3 Nf6 4.Bg5 Be7 5.e3 Ne4), even though its previous name D53 Queen's Gambit Declined: Lasker Defense was something I could have kept, since both the old and new ways of naming these openings considered the point of which to name the opening the same, which was after 5...Ne4. For today I picked a game that was played over 13 years ago at the Finnish School Team Championships. Back in those days I seem to have forgotten to put in the notation what was the round the games were played and other info about the games is also missing, for example, not all the games I played in that tournament had all the moves included in the notation and therefore I have not put them in my database either. It is somewhat disappointing but then again, the games I played back then were not all that well played by me anyway, so maybe it does not matter all that much that the notations are a bit incomplete. There are now 843 analysed chess games in this blog. It is only a small fraction of the games I have played and have notation of but if the amount of games I share keeps up with recent days, then at least I am publishing more games than I finish in the current rate. And that means I might some day catch up... It will not happen anytime soon, I am certain of that.

It is time once more to look at a game I played at the FIDE Online Arena. This is from the fourth round of the rapid chess tournament I played there. This fourth round was also the final round of the tournament and I ended up scoring two wins, one draw and one loss in those games. I may not be completely happy with that result because all my opponents were lower rated than me. I should start playing at FOA again so that I would maybe get that better title I was aiming for before but had to settle for what I have now. I may even have time for that on the weekends at least from now on. I may even have time to play there Monday to Friday when more of my correspondence games end. I still have 140, so I have been able to free some of the time used for those in the past few months. At the moment I do not know what will be the post about tomorrow but there will be something posted tomorrow unless something prevents me from doing it. I have added two mate in ones and three mate in threes today. Until tomorrow, my fellow chess enthusiasts!

The game I am sharing with you now was played in a team match called Romeo and Juliet Want to Play king's indian defense fianchetto variation !! at Chess.com. The match was played between Romeo and Juliet and ♙ Thematic Matches & Tournaments on 72 boards. I represented ♙ Thematic Matches & Tournaments in this match and I played on board 17. I won both of my games against chegarra. The final score in the match is 68.5 - 75.5 in favor of ♙ Thematic Matches & Tournaments.

Today my not losing streak at Chess.com ended after lasting 26 games! Those 26 games contained 20 wins and 6 draws. Admittedly, I could have lost the game that ended the streak much sooner or continued it a couple of moves longer but the final position was completely lost and I saw no reason to continue the struggle anymore. I have added one mate in one, one mate in three, one mate in six, one mate in eight and one mate in nine puzzle today.

Maybe a bit unfortunately one more short game that features an opening that I have not covered before. There will be more games in this line in the distant future that most likely are going to be longer than the game I will share today, but until then this will have to do. The game below was played in a team match called We are alive. It is played between psychedelic lollipop and GOTHIC. The match is played on ten boards and the score is at the moment 8 - 10 in favor of GOTHIC. I played on this match on board 1 for psychedelic lollipop and ended up winning both my games against Erikson15 on time because his account was closed by Chess.com due to cheating apparently. I have never understood why people would want to cheat in chess. If winning is that important to you, I would suggest either doing something else where the winning might be easier or improve your skills enough that you would win more chess games on your own. For example, the amount of work I have done to improve my chess in the last year has been fruitful as I have steadily improved my rating on sites I actively play. I have even been able to get to 98.8 percentile at Chess.com due to my Online Chess rating of 1960! My goal is to be on the 99 percentile and above at some point. I still have not been able to break my Online Chess rating record that I have had since January 15th 2009. I am only 14 points away though which means that if couple of games end favorably for me before the losses start again that peak rating will be set to new heights in the near future. I have also added two mate in twos, one mate in four and two mate in six puzzles today.

The game below was played in the first round of the 2014 October Long Haul Split I tournament that is held at Red Hot Pawn. I am currently on sixth place in group 2 after I have finished half of my games in this round. So far things have gone as well as they can go, because I have won all my 11 games. Because there are 11 more games still to finish, this tournament can still become a disaster for me. Beatlemania leads the group, who has gathered 48 points so far. Blackpoolmad is on second place and has gathered 43 points. Third place holder is blither, who has gathered 40 points. I have really good chances to win the group and advance to the next round because I have six points higher maximum possible score than beatlemania, who currently has the second highest maximum possible score. I have added two mate in ones, one mate in two, one mate in three and one mate in six puzzle today.

B20 Sicilian Defense: Myers Attack #2 (1.e4 c5 2.a4)

B20 Sicilian Defense: Myers Attack #2 (1.e4 c5 2.a4)

This game is a real blast from the past for me as this was played over 13 years ago in Finnish School Team Championships. My first official tournament was in the same Championships a year earlier than this one. If in my earliest chess playing days I lost most of the games I played, it certainly is not the case anymore, I have avoided losing a game for 22 games in a row now at Chess.com. That undefeated streak has enabled me to get quite close to my peak rating in Online Chess once again, I am now 24 points from the peak rating that I got January 15th 2009. I may get farther away from it quite soon as I noticed that I blundered a piece for maybe only a minimal compensation. There are of course other games there as well that do not look all that good for me. It does not necessarily mean that I would resign those games just yet as I do not think those games are that easy to win. Only when I feel a game is completely hopelessly lost, I will resign. I have added one mate in one, three mate in threes and one mate in four.

C44 Ponziani Opening and Scotch Gambit (1.e4 e5 2.d4 exd4 3.Bc4 Nc6 4.c3 dxc3 5.Nf3 d6)

The game below was played in the fifth round of a rapid chess tournament at the FIDE Online Arena. This was one of the rare occasions where I finished the tournament without losing a single game. I won three games and drew two games. My fourth round game I won on time and I will not share it here because the game did not feature any moves. It was a somewhat of a disappointment that I could not win this game but then again after the poor start I had to this game, I could have also lost this, so maybe draw was an okay result.

After a few months, I do not even know how long it has been, I have only 148 games in progress again. The last time I had this amount of games was sometime last year. I remember when I got to 300 games in progress January 12th 2015 that I had played 270+ games for several months at that point. It may very well be that it has been over a year since my game load was as low as it is now. It still is not low enough and I do not start anymore challenges or team matches for quite some time. I might even see the rest of the year without any new additions like that. I know that the games I have in progress might get back over 150 before it starts to descent more again. This is because at least one tournament I can remember might get to the next round before I reduce enough games for it not to go over that limit. I have added three mate in twos and two mate in threes today.

As there are some correspondence games that have finished recently, I will go through them before going to my FIDE Online Arena and over the board games. The game below was played in a small team match called Open Challenge Let's Play Benoni. I call it small because it was played on only three boards between Let's Play Benoni and Himgouree's club. I played on board 3 for Himgouree's club and won both my games against opticRED. The score at the end was 1 - 5 in favor of the away team Himgouree's club.

Some of the openings that I have seen listed in the book openings at Chess.com have a # sign at the end and if I put those in the notation, ChessBase 12 considers them as evaluation marks and puts the #3, for instance, in front of the name of the opening and I can't remove the #3 from that place of the notation anymore... Or at least I do not know how to do it. That is a bit annoying but I could of course just work around the problem by leaving the # out of the notation, which I never of course remember to do when I type the name of the variation in the notation... Well maybe next time I remember to do that and make my life a bit easier as a result. I have added one mate in two, three mate in threes and one mate in six today.

B20 Sicilian: Unusual White 2nd moves (1.c4 c5 2.Nc3 Nc6 3.d3 g6 4.e4 Bg7)

Ah, back again after a two day break from posting. I actually used those two days more or less by doing some maintanance to this blog. I mostly corrected some minor mistakes that I have made in the past. As I went through all the posts, I noticed a mistake in the ECO code of one post and corrected it. Even though I usually am careful and check the ECO codes these days better than I did when I started doing this blog, there can occasionally be an inccorrect code in the post. I am quite confident though that I will not make a similar mistake in the future because I think I can learn from my past mistakes. I also now know for certain that there are 808 analysed chess games in this blog. Also for the first time since I started doind this blog, I can now check all the stats easier from the .ods file I made. As long as I remember to update that file, I should now all the essential statistics from the openings I have played. The game below is my latest game from Queen Alice Internet Chess Club. I have lost three games in a row there now, which is not a good sign. Even worse, I have only won one game out of the last seven games, played one draw and lost five games. Maybe I am a bit too hard on myself though because my opponents have been quite good, three of those losses have come against a player rated over 2400 and two of the losses against a player who is currently over 2200 but his true rating might be even higher because he still has a provisional rating and he his rating has gone steadily upward. This game was played in the second round of the AUTO-MASTER-2135 tournament that is still in progress. Only three players are left in this second and final round. I am currently in last place in the group and because I face tough opponents, I may not get much higher than that. This was my first game to end, so I have zero points, my opponent in this game, Franzel, is on first place with four points. On second place is a player called Evandrobit, who I have faced before and I have bad score against him. Evandrobit has two points that came from his draws against Franzel. That means of course that they share the win of the tournament if they both win me twice. I have added one mate in one, one mate in two, one mate in three and two mate in five puzzles today.

Game number two. This game, played at Chess.com in a team match called Natalia Pogonina! vs Space Angels Celebrate was my second game against hlornik. The match was played between We love Natalia Pogonina! and Space Angels Chocolate Dunk Monster Strawberries In Andromeda's Cluster Of Infinite Bright Stars on 33 boards. I played on board 7 for Space Angels Chocolate Dunk Monster Strawberries In Andromeda's Cluster Of Infinite Bright Stars and managed to win both of my games against hlornik. The final score in the match was 11.5 - 54.5 in favor of Space Angels Chocolate Dunk Monster Strawberries In Andromeda's Cluster Of Infinite Bright Stars.

The game below followed a similar path as can be seen in the first game in this post until hlornik played 5.Bd2. The move order was a bit different though. The first sign of trouble for my opponent was when hlornik played in the position below 10.exd5. It might be argued that my opponent's play can be improved earlier on, but hlornik should have been able to hold a draw with accurate play, had hlornik played 10.Re1, for example.

The game continued to go downhill for my opponent and hlornik's position became lost only a few moves later when he played 15.Qb3.

B27 Sicilian: 2.Nf3, unusual Black 2nd moves (1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 h6)

B27 Sicilian: 2.Nf3, unusual Black 2nd moves (1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 h6)

This post was previously named B27 Sicilian Defense: Bücker Variation and it could have stayed that way since Fritz 16's opening classification did not add any moves to the line, but because I started to use its naming policy, well with some modifications, I think it is more consistent to use the Fritz 16 classification. The only times I have not used it, is when the line named does not contain as many moves as some other source. This paragraph was added on July 22nd, 2019.

It has been quite a chess960 filled content here lately but now it is time to go back to chess. This game was played in the first round of a rapid chess tournament at the FIDE Online Arena. I think I will shift between my FOA games and my over the board games for now, adding the occasional correspondence games from Chess.com, Red Hot Pawn, GameKnot and Queen Alice Internet Chess Club into the mix from time to time as games finish from those sites. I have also been thinking of doing other changes to my posting as well, mainly I have considered doing this blog only five days a week instead of every day. I will post games and puzzles from Monday to Friday from now on, in order to divert my time a bit to other projects that I want to test out. My correspondence games do not end as fast as I would like, so the time that frees from those is not enough at the moment. I have 156 in progress at the moment and when I get to 50 games or so, I might finally be a relaxed correspondence chess player. I will probably reach that amount in a few months if I do not advance to next rounds in tournaments all that much or have to start anymore team matches. I need to be more adamant about not joining more team matches as it is sometimes hard to decline when the team that I am in is outrated by the opponent. I have added three mate in twos and two mate in threes today. Until Monday, my fellow chess enthusiasts!

Chess960 SP803

There are some days when nothing seems to go your way and today was like that for me. I planned on going through more of my chess games today but that did not happen because I could not use my computer for several hours due to electricity going out and there been thunder and lightning in the air. Well, at least I was able to analyse this chess960 game today. Depending on how things work out tomorrow, I might not be able to post anything tomorrow or only games from openings I have already covered in the past. I might have one more new chess960 starting position but it would require me to correct the pgn-file for it as I remember there being something wrong with it. It is also something that I can't guarantee that I am able to fix but I can see what I can do. If nature will not unleash its fury upon me, I might be able to post something unseen in this blog, we shall see. The game below is so far the fourth and last chess960 game I have played against trallala. I won this game on time, according to Stockfish 6 64 BMI2, the position at the end is close to a draw. I have added one mate in two, two mate in three, one mate in four and one mate in five puzzle today.

Chess960 SP910

Chess960 SP910

One year ago this blog started with the intention of bringing unique content that you can't find anywhere else. I think I have succeeded in that at least because no one else is likely to share my games publicly... Also I have not really seen blogs done in this way anywhere else. I know that I still have a lot to learn about how to do things more efficiently and in an interesting way. Some part of the learning process involves learning more about HTML, CSS and Javascript and how to use them to improve the quality of the site and make it as good as it can be. I will now take a look back at what has happened in the year that this blog has been active. I have at the moment 803 analysed chess games posted that feature 350 different opening variations. I posted yesterday that the game count was 801 but it turned out today when I went through all of the openings and my results in them that the actual amount is 803. I am not 100 percent sure which one is right but I would bet that 803 is more likely to be correct. I still need to verify that tomorrow, I could have done it today but there were other things I also had to do today and time just simply run out again. From the statistics I took from openings I have covered and my results in them page, I also calculated the amount of wins, draws and losses that were listed there. I have won 519 games, played 62 draws and lost 222 games out those 803 games. My Chess960 results are more easier to count and there are now 30 of those analysed in this blog. The starting position you see in the game below is the 13th different one to appear in this blog. I won 21 of those 30 chess960 games, played 5 draws and lost 4 games. I have also published 1470 chess puzzles during this one year period. During this year I have gone from zero followers at Google+ to 35 and I would like to thank all of them at this point in time. Like all the followers, I also appreciate all of the comments and +1's people have given for the posts. The game below was played at the Free Internet Chess Server with 3 minute time controls on April 6th 2011. I won the game below on time as one might imagine because Black is better in the final position. I have added four mate in twos and one mate in three puzzle today.

Chess960 SP773

Chess960 SP773

This is a game that was played at the Free Internet Chess Server on April 5th 2011. This was played with 3 minute time controls. Some years ago when I was more active at FICS, I used to play best two out three mini matches against mister trallala. I have no accurate statistics on how many of those mini matches I won and how many he won but there are statistics on my fics games against him at FICS games database. We have played 178 blitz games there and my score in them is 129 but even with the winning percentage of 72.5, it might be a bit misleading. I mean the difference in our playing strength is not that high and I probably have won most of those games on time. If I happen to live long enough to analyse all of those games, I will be able to get a better understanding of the playing strength difference between me and him. The post I am doing tomorrow might be longer than usual because tomorrow this blog has been around one year! Well, I did have a chess blog that was called the same and it had the same address years ago but the rebirth of this blog has been around one year tomorrow. I have added one more analysed chess960 game to my post Chess960 SP50. I have also added one more analysed chess game to these two posts: B32 Sicilian Defense: Open #3 and C97 Spanish Game: Closed Variations. Chigorin Defense. Both of those chess games were played at FIDE Online Arena. There was no post called B32 Sicilian Defense: Open #3 before today, by the way, I had to change the name of the post after I looked what opening was played in the game I was adding from Chess.com's database of openings. When I originally added that post, I used a different source or I should say only one source to identify the openings. I have also added one mate in one, two mate in twos and two mate in threes today.

Chess960 SP920

Chess960 SP920

This game is my first ever chess960 game and it was played at the Free Internet Chess Server on April 5th 2011. My first four games in this chess variant were against this same opponent. Those four games are also the only chess960 games I have played against him. I am not sure how many chess games I have played against him but I would reckon it has to be several hundreds at this point. It is always nice to play against him, not only because I mostly win but also because the games are rarely boring in my opinion. We do not play the same openings all the time, so there is some variance in that aswell. Well, it is likely that he will change the openings if I would like to play the same stuff more than once in a row. Even though I have good results against him, he is still very dangerous opponent to me face especially in longer time controls. He probably calculates variations better than me but part of the reason for that is that he most of the time uses too much of his time searching for the crushing move and I end up winning on time. This is true in blitz at least. I actually do not remember all that many games that I would have won because my position was better or that I ended up checkmating his king. I have added two mate in twos and three mate in threes today. In addition I have added one more analysed chess game to my post C53 Italian Game: Bird's Attack, I have also added more chess960 content today, one game to the post Chess960 SP33, two games to the post Chess960 SP50 and one game to the post Chess960 SP563. Until tomorrow, my fellow chess enthusiasts!

C40 Latvian and Elephant Gambits (1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 d5 3.exd5 Bd6)

C40 Latvian and Elephant Gambits (1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 d5 3.exd5 Bd6)

This is my latest game from GameKnot, after this game I have played 71 games there and out of those games, this was my 47th win. GameKnot is the only site where I play actively that I have not even reached a rating of 1800... I used to think that my poor results there were due to my opening choices but even after I changed the openings I play there to ones that are more familiar to me, the results remained quite bad. Or maybe enough games have not ended after the change to see the affect clearly. It is more likely that I just do not have the same will to win as I do on other sites. I know that this might sound nuts but I may feel that other games on other sites are more important to me. The games become more important, the higher my rating rises. It might be then that my rating will remain only 1700+ on GameKnot and does not change all that drastically one way or the other in the future either. Well, rating is not the only thing that makes some of the games I play more important than others. Team matches that I play at Chess.com, for example, are more important to me than just a single challenge against a random player, or even a tournament game. The game below was played in tedjj's mini-tournament XLIII. This tournament has not gone all that well for me and I am currently in eight place in this eleven player tournament. In the 13 games that have finished, I have gathered only six points... I have seven more games left to finish and if I would somehow win them all, I would end up in third or fourth place quite likely. I have added one mate in two, three mate in threes and one mate in four puzzle today.

Chess960 SP185

Chess960 SP185

The game below was a challenge issued by my opponent. We have played two chess960 games now and both have ended in peaceful draws quite quickly even though the positions might have been not drawn. The first game I might have lost if we had played on and in this second game I might have been slightly better, so in my opinion quite a good result for me, even though I dropped some rating points because of these draws. I could have lost a lot more, so I can't complain all that much. I am again not sure what to post tomorrow but it might be some more chess960 and it might be time to look at my first chess960 game I have ever played. I might also post my latest games from GameKnot and Chess.com. I have added one mate in one, two mate in twos, one mate in three and one mate in eight puzzle today. I have also added one more analysed chess game to my post B92 Sicilian Defense: Najdorf Variation. Opocensky Variation and that is my latest game from Queen Alice Internet Chess Club. I have also added two analysed chess960 games to my post Chess960 SP33 and one analysed chess960 game to my post Chess960 SP50.

Chess960 SP650

It is time for some chess960 once again. It is quite likely that the post I will do tomorrow will also feature chess960 in some way or another. I will also take a look on my latest game from Queen Alice Internet Chess Club tomorrow but more about it then. The game below was played in a team match called 960? The question mark is part of the name in case someone wondered. The match is played between Stargate Command and Xindi on 13 boards. I played on board one for Stargate Command and won both of my games on time. The other game ended in the starting position. The score in the match is currently 18 - 6 in favor of Stargate Command. If my memory serves me right, this was my first match for Stargate Command and luckily it was success right away as we were able to win the match, or should I say that we will win as it is not official until all games have finished. The amount of games I have in progress has increased a bit again... I now have 155 games in progress. I just need to decline all games from now on, otherwise I end up facing 200+ games again soon and that is not what I want at all. I have added two mate in ones, two mate in threes and one mate in four. I have also added one analysed chess960 game to my post Chess960 SP33.

A06 Réti Opening: 1.Nf3 d5 (1.Nf3 d5 2.e3 c5)

This was played in a team match called Welcome Match. The match was played on 6 boards between Lutheran Chess Players and Life Is Chess. I played on board 4 for Life Is Chess. The only six games that were lost on time were on our side which meant that all who did not lose on time, should have won all their games. This of course did not happen and I was the only one in our team that was able to win a game, actually I won both my games against VincentUSA. The match ended 9.5 - 2.5 in favor of Lutheran Chess Players. I have added one mate in one, three mate in twos and one mate in four puzzle today. I have added one more chess960 game to my post Chess960 SP50.

Chess960 SP382

Chess960 SP382

I thought yesterday that I would have been able to continue posting some of my chess games today but it seems that time just flies too fast and other things took too long in order for me to do so. As chess960 has been a backup plan for me at times, I thought I would be at least able to post a game from a starting position I had not featured before which I luckily found before this day ended. Tomorrow should be more normal day for me but plans might change if something happens that disrupts the normal way of things. I might post a mix of chess and chess960 games tomorrow but I can't say it for certain at this time. The game below was a challenge from my opponent. This game showed once more that I should be more aware of the board from move one. I obviously was not even considering the fact that my opponent could threaten something after his first move. I guess I have played chess too much that when I play chess960, I try to play it too similarly and can't see threats that "normally" should not be possible. After two moves I was down a pawn and the exchange, so pretty much a resignable position but I thought to continue a few more moves. I did have some compensation for the material, my lead in development, but obviously it was not enough. Actually it was my opponent who offered the draw, mainly because he thought that the position is a bit stuck but I would have probably played on if I were him. I was happy to agree to a draw obviously in this friendly game against a good player whose rating at the moment might be lower than mine but that might change. I played an over the board blitz game against him today and lost. Well, I am not that good at blitz even though my national blitz rating is higher than my standard rating. I have added one mate in one, two mate in twos, one mate in three and one mate in six puzzle.

A43 Schmid Benoni (1.d4 c5 2.Nf3 cxd4 3.Nxd4 e5)

Today I had to do something that I do not normally do, due to time restraints. I skipped a few games in my database in order to reach this game in time, so I could get a post done today. I did check the opening on those skipped games and as they did not offer anything new, I had to leave them for now. I will go through them eventually, maybe even tomorrow but today I just did not have enough time. The game below was played in the first round of the Maximum ! tournament that is held at Chess.com. I am currently on eight place and I have gathered 10,5 points. I have still six games left to play in round one and if I win all of them, I will finish third and that would mean that I would advance to the second round. Even though I do not look forward on advancing to the second round in this tournament, I will not lose on purpose just to avoid that. I have added two mate in ones, one mate in two, one mate in three and one mate in five.

The game I will share with you today was played in a team match called ♔ Chess Without Limits ♔ vs "MONIKA". It is played between Limitless Chess and "MONIKA" on 35 boards. I played on board 3 for Limitless Chess. I lost my other game against asahmd, so I did okay on board 3 against a higher rated opponent. The match is not yet decided but it is a close one. The current score is 34,5 - 32,5 in favor of Limitless Chess, so we need one more point to win the match. I have added one mate in one, two mate in twos, one mate in three and one mate in four puzzle today.

This was played in the second round of the French 2014 thematic tournament at Chess.com. The second round is still in progress and I have two games left to finish. I have only gathered two points so far and I am on fourth place in this five player group. If I were to win my remaining games, I could have chances to get to third place and that would enable me to continue my way to the third round. However, it is something that I would like to avoid. I am still in the process of reducing my game load, though it does momentarily increase from time to time due to tournaments going to the next round and some important team matches. In the game below I started to get in trouble after my move 15...Nh4, which apparently was a novelty and not a good one at that. After that the position started to get more and more difficult for me to play and I tried to fight on but to no avail. The group #2 is the group I am playing in and it will be won by NM Ejarov but who will be finishing second, third or fourth is still unclear. This game is taken from a team match called CHOCOLATE II vs LATINO. The match is played on 58 boards and I am playing on board 4 for CHOCOLATE II. The winner of the match is clear even though not all games have finished because the score in the match is 49 - 63 in favor of Latino. There were quite many timeouts in this match unfortunately on both sides. My game load is still a bit too much, I have at the moment 152 games in progress and it will actually increase by a few games in the near future at least momentarily. In one of my games I encountered something silly awhile back. I offered a draw in a position where I had a pawn and a king and my opponent had only his king left and my opponent refused the draw!! The reason why I offered the draw was because I knew the position was completely drawn and nothing I could do would change that. My only hope to win that game would be if my opponent ran out of time. More importantly though, he can't win that position... Even if my time would run out, it would still be a draw because he does not have enough material to mate me. I send another draw offer few moves later but it might be that he does not accept that either... Well, the game will be drawn by force in a few moves anyway, so it does not matter all that much. I have added one mate in one, one mate in two, one mate in three, one mate in seven and one mate in nine puzzle today.

Game number two. This is the 24th game in the 100 game match between me and Tomi. The match is played with 15 minute time controls and the first 20 games were played in 2013. I had a good winning streak at this point in the match and I took the lead in the match with a score of 12.5 - 11.5 after this game.
